When a LearnPad is locked for student use, the only ways in which a student may access content are via:
- The active Lesson.
- The Toolbox.
Whilst the Lesson on a LearnPad is intended to change often, the Toolbox is always available and contains cross-curricular tools and resources that can be tailored to the needs of each school.
To access the Toolbox, tap the button from the LearnPad toolbar (on some devices, this button may not be visible. If this is the case, tap the button and then tap Toolbox). The Toolbox will be displayed.
The Toolbox is a Category that has been assigned as an organisation’s Tools Category. As standard, every organisation uses the same Tools Category but this can be changed according to your school’s needs. To customise the Toolbox:
2. On the Manage tab, beneath the Content heading, click Categories.
3. In the Search box on the right-hand side of the page, in the Keyword field, enter: “LearnPad Tools” and press Return/Enter on the keyboard.
4. Under the Free Categories from the Store results, click LearnPad Tools.
5. In the Actions box on the right-hand side of the page, click Copy Category.
6. Enter an intuitive name for your new Toolbox and click Copy Category.
7. Click on the Organisation name in the top-right of the page.
8. Under the Content Settings section, click the Tools Category drop-down and select the Category that was created at step 6.
9. The LearnPad tablets in your organisation will now use the Category specified at step 8 as the Toolbox.
This Category can be modified in the same way as any other Category.
