Troubleshooting BBC Bitesize websites

If you've added a BBC Bitesize Learner Guide or video as a website Resource, you may find the following occurs when you lauch the Resource on a LearnPad and try to play a video on the page:
  • A message appears stating Android application 'air.uk.co.bbc.android.mediaplayer' not available
This is because the website is trying to launch the video in a separate app.

To fix this:


Go to the Resource page for the BBC Bitesize link you have created.



Click the pencil next to UserAgent to edit the field and paste in the following text:

Mozilla/5.0 (iPad; CPU OS 5_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9B176 Safari/7534.48.3

Click the pencil again to save.



This UserAgent string asks the BBC Bitesize website to provide the LearnPad with a different version of the website, which allows for videos to be played without installing an app.
