LearnPad Tablets for Schools: Device Usage Charging & monitoring

Charging & monitoring

April 16, 2014

The type of charger required differs between devices. To ensure you do not damage your device you should only use the charger supplied with it. Using a charger that is not rated to the specification of your devices can cause permanent damage and render the device unusable.

Charging

Connect the AC adapter to a mains power supply and insert the charging plug into the power input port of the LearnPad.
The LearnPad Quarto and LearnPad Folio use a pin type charger. The LearnPad Octavo charges via the micro USB socket.

When the device is charging, the battery indicator at the bottom right or top right of the screen (depending on your device type) will show a lightning bolt:

The battery icon will “fill up” as the charge level increases.

To find out an accurate reading of the current charge level you need to tap the battery icon (if it’s shown in the bottom right hand corner of the screen) or swipe it downwards (if it’s shown in the top right hand corner).

LearnPad can be charged when idle or whilst it is being used. Charging times vary, but you should typically allow four to six hours for a full charge.

Monitoring

Once your LearnPads have been enrolled in your organization, they will appear on the Dashboard. If the charge level for any device drops below 20%, an alert will be shown on the right hand sidebar.
